IOBP - Interactive Objects Background Platform
Creating a label is done by making choices within the IOBP and can function as an alternative way
for writing a diary entry. The purpose of these labels is to stimulate introspection and to facilitate
sharing our inner experiences with others, in order to discover our common grounds.
A label can be reused and even used by others as starting point for a new personal our collective
story.
A person can create a label by going through different choices.
The chosen ‘background’ symbolizes the environment in which a person finds him/herself.
Followed by the ‘objects’, chosen to define oneself within that environment.
Then there are ‘functions’ in order to add layers such as position, colors, transparency, etc.
More information on the use of and the interaction with the platform will follow in the nearby
future.
Label ‘Antichrist’ by Virginie Scheibler
Choices of Virginie from the Collections & Databases:
Background: Conflict Painting 022; symbolizes different sociological groups within society and
their unique histories
Objects:
• Rosette; symbolizes memory and collection; a personal selection from the general database; a
collective format in which every individual places his/her preference
• ‘Zessprong’; her difficult choice between reason and emotion; she chooses to surrender to
romance and the unknown
The following text and the thoughts written down in it are linked to the label ‘Antichrist’ created by
Virginie Scheibler on Easter Day.
Virginie is living in doubt, because of the relationship she is currently in with a man who left Syria
for Europe. He fled the war and its consequences in his homecountry.
He is obviously someone with very different life experiences than hers, including a deep pain and
great nostalgia. Nevertheless they find each other at this moment in theirs lives and feel that they
are able to enrich one another. Virginie is questioning herself whether there will be enough
‘common ground’ in order to understand each other in a shared future. And whether their very
different life stories will put their relationship to the proof. Either way, she prefers to follow her
heart, not knowing where this will lead her, before her head will deprive her from a chance at pure
love.
“So then, let us herald the end of all that is one-sided”
Walking down the corridors, of our house on Easter Day.
Down the sideways of my thoughts back to what he told me.
About a storm at sea, heavy hands right above the cold surface.
